Our little boy made it through his first cold and came out just as happy and smiley as ever! It's so fun to have our energetic boy back. He seems almost excessively happy (it there is such a thing) since he's been feeling better. He's so playful and adventerous these days and gets around so good! Even though he hasn't started crawlign yet he can get from one side of the room to the other in no time at all. He's so funny. Here's a few more pictures from his sick days.
This is how we had to restrain him to give him his medicine ... poor guy!
This is him so exhausted he can't even hold his head up.

Junior Prom Rewind
One of our friends watned to re-create her and her husbands first date which happened to be to Junior Prom 10 years ago ... so we got all dressed up and took a limo up to Salt Lake for a fabulous dinner. And then of course cheesy prom pictures!! It was such a fun night. Thanks especially to Mark sister Faith who was willing to watch Boston for us despite him not feeling well. She did such a great job ... I was so impressed!!

Doesn't it look like the ending scene of an 80's movie.

They kind of got the YMCA thing backwords and I'm pretty sure Rachel's real feelings towards me came out in this photo.

I borrowed the dress from Faith! It was such a fun night ... and I even got to go home with my date at the end!! = )

PROBIOTICS... I swear by them!
This post is especially for my friends who are new moms or soon to be moms but all could benefit from this information so I encourage you to read-on even if you aren't a mom. I hear so many horror stories about breastfeeding and if you've had a bad experience I really hope this information might help you.
This was in response to a question one of my friends asked me. She is recovering from her 4th breast infection... poor girl!! She was wondering how she got an infection WHILE taking antibiotics ...
Probiotics are bacteria that help maintain natural balance in our bodies. Our bodies contain hundreds of different types of probiotic bacteria that reduce the growth of harmful bacteria in our bodies and promote health. Antibiotics kill "good" (beneficial) bacteria along with the bacteria that causes illness. A decrease in beneficial bacteria will leave someone more susceptible to the development of other infections.
Taking probiotic supplements (as capsules, powder, or liquid extract) will help replace the lost beneficial bacteria and thus help prevent further infections. The most common type of probiotic you hear about is acidophilus ... naturaly found in yogurt, and you can get it in supplement form at any health food store. I started taking it hours after Boston was born to prevent getting breast infections. I also take it day-to-day to prevent getting sick. I recommend them for anyone post delivery because they will help you have a fast recovery. You should definetly take them if you are coming off of being on any type of antibiotics! Let me know if you have any other questions about them. I'm sorry you haven't heard of them until now.

A great read!...
I'm reading the best book. I picked it up yesterday and haven't been able to put it down. I've always been fascinated with autoimmune diseases and their increasing prevelance in the U.S. Why would our own immune system which was designed to protect us from foreign invaders turn on itself and start attacking our bodies own tissues?...
I have 3 people just in my immediate family with different autoimmune diseases ... that's almost 1/4 of my family members so I wasn't suprised to learn that 25% of people have a genetic predisposition to autoimmune diseases. I was suprised to learn though that only 30% is genetic and 70% is environmental! I guess that should be great news since so many of us are genetically susceptable but is it really great news when the very environmental toxins that can trigger our immune systems into a downward spiral bombard our everyday lives?!
I was stunned to read the studies they've been doing on breast milk... they've been finding alarmingly high concentration of harmful chemicals, such as DDT, (which was banned years ago) in breatmilk!... so if it was banned how is it still ending up in our breastmilk?... because it's still in the air we breath, the soil, and therefor our produce, and it has even worked its way up the food chain and is now in the animal products we consume. (*Just a side note: I still think breastmilk is the best thing you can give to your baby!)
I could go on and on but I would just encourage you to read the book because it provides practical advice on what you can do to protect yourself and your family!... especially if you already have an autoimmune disease or they run in your family. This book was published just a few months ago so it has all the latest breakthrough research regarding autoimmunity and toxicology.

The day has come...
Well I was hoping we could make it a full year before Boston ever got sick but the day has come that our little boy is sick as a dog. (where did that expression come from?...) It's so sad... he's all stuffed up and coughs a lot. Last night he had a coughing spell that made him start gagging and throwing up and it made me cry... it's so hard when there is not a lot you can do to help them when they're struggeling. It broke my heart. I am happy he has been able to get more sleep then usual though because he needs it! I'm not sure how restful his sleep really even is though since he's breathing hard and coughing a lot but yesterday he took 6 hours of naps and then went to bed at 7pm and didn't wake up until 9:30 this morning! Wow, I wish it didn't take him being sick to sleep in so late!
Here's our sick little boy all cuddled up on the couch watching his favorite show... Baby Signing Time. I can't help but think he's so cute when he's sick and his little cough is adorable... and I'm loving all the extra cuddle time!

An emotional purchase...
I was so excited when I saw this walker at Burrlington Baby Depot. I've always been in love with jeeps so I thought I would just live vicariously through my son. But now that he's started using it I'm realizing it was a pretty rediculous purchase because there aren't many places he can go with it in our small little condo. Especially since it's hard to manuever on carpet. That really limits him to just the hallway and the kitchen.
He has discovered he can push himself over to the kitchen drawers and open them and he likes to pull down the trash can and dining room chairs so I'm starting to regret this purchase. It's just not practical. I think it could be fun on the sidewalks outside during the summer but I'm debating taking it back which means I would have to take it apart and it was a pain to put together!
The other night when Mark was in the office doing homework and we were not allowed to bother him Boston just drove his jeep right up to the door and honked his horn endlessly! He loves his daddy!!

Draper Temple Open House
I am so grateful for temples! We went to the Draper Temple Open House and it was such a neat experience to be able to have Boston in the celestial room with us. He is such a wonderful addition to our family and I'm so grateful we're sealed together. I'm always so overcome with gratitude when I think of all the sacrifice, dedication and faith that goes into building temples across the world.
